About

WELCOME

Thatonepointofview.com, a travel photography and lifestyle blog, was dreamed up after a cross-Atlantic, cross-cultural move abroad to Germany. Founded in 2017 as an outlet for sharing my travels and expat experiences, thatonepointofview.com became a place to inspire others to feel comfortable traveling the world and experiencing new cultures through city guides, travel itineraries, and personal experiences.

OUR MISSION

Our mission is to connect with the modern traveler, providing insights into exploring new cultures either through our experience living abroad in Germany or traveling Europe extensively through city guides and handcrafted itineraries. Always with an emphasis on photography locations and finding the best views.

MY STORY

Born and raised in the USA, my first international experience was a study abroad program in college to Barcelona, Spain. You can say after that moment I had discovered my travel bug. The summer after college, before entering the “real-world”, I took to Europe for a 4 month long backpacking trip with only a point and shoot camera and dreams to see more.

In 2017, after 5 years in the corporate world, my husband and I uncovered an opportunity to move abroad to Cologne, Germany. Knowing very basic German, and never before having visited Cologne, we packed only the essentials into four suitcases and moved our Golden Retriever across the Atlantic without an apartment or a clue what was to come. By this time I had invested in my first DSLR camera and lenses, and was ready to put them to use around the world. The rest is documented here, so follow along!

My new favorite way to fix a โ€œbadโ€ photo. Ever gotten back from vacation and noticed one of your favorite photos was just not right. After fixing the aspect of this photo in Lightroom, I (the subject) was almost out of the frame.
Here are the simple step to follow to fix it in 2 minutes:
1. Export from Lightroom directly to Photoshop (Photo > edit in > Adobe @photoshop)
2. Use the crop tool to adjust the original photo to your new desired margins
3. Select the rectangular tool to select the empty areas
4. The new generative tool hovers at the bottom of your photo, leave the prompt empty and simply select โ€œgenerateโ€
5. Watch the magic happen! ๐Ÿช„
6. Save the photo within the photoshop app, and it will send it back to Lightroom for you ๐Ÿ˜‰
This removes all the manual work and is almost scary how good it is.
Welcome to the world of AI photos yโ€™all. Are you on board yet?

Visiting Japan in the spring meant lots of rainy days for us. But there are a ton of activities you can still do in the rain!
We loved visiting the Sensล-ji temple in the early morning to beat the crowds. This place gets seriously crowded later in the day.
Other rainy day activities in Tokyo are:
โ˜”๏ธ visiting teamLab Planets
โ˜”๏ธ shopping at the famous Tokyu Plaza Omotesando Harajuku
โ˜”๏ธ playing at the arcades all over Tokyo
โ˜”๏ธ escaping the rain in a cozy bar at Shinjuku Golden Gai
Donโ€™t let a little rain stop you for experiencing all Tokyo has to offer!

Bellagio is one of the most crowded towns on Lake Bellagio is one of the most crowded towns on Lake Como with tourists, so if you have the chance to stop by in the morning I highly suggest it.
Stores and cafe start to open around 8am, so show up at 7:30am and you will literally have the streets to yourself.
As soon as it turned 8, I saw the streets starting to come alive with morning shoppers setting out for breads and fruits. Tourists heading to get their morning coffee and locals starting to take to the streets.
Bellagio is such an easy ferry ride from any of the main towns in Lake Como, we even came back over from Varennaaa for dinner one night.
